Class Descriptions

EXERCISE BALL CLASS---using the larger (and smaller balls for arms) exercise balls for balance and core work.

GENTLE YOGA---a slower, gentler mindful practice, great for all levels, esp. beginners.

YOGA FLOW---practice of warmups, movement (flow) pose to pose, then cool down and relax.

ALL LEVELS YOGA---anyone of any level from beginner to advanced will be able to practice in this class, no matter your ability.

YOGA PLUS---a class for those with limitations of size, shape or handicap. The instructor will guide you in the use of props (blocks, blankets, straps, chair) to allow you to do yoga poses despite your limitations. Experience the yogic benefits for body, mind and spirit and at the same time raise your self confidence and body image.

FAMILY YOGA---a family activity with practice fitted to the individual. Observe your child's progress and interaction with the instructor. Learn poses and breathing to use at home to Calm, Quiet and Focus.

LIGHT WEIGHTS---standing and sitting (on chairs) with handheld weights of your choice (2-5 pound weights) for bone building/strengthening and toning, for increasing the body's defenses against disease through resistance training and to help make your posture straighter.

YOGA WITH CHAIRS---yoga poses done using chairs to help us balance, ground and practice while sitting, standing and lying down. A practice for ALL levels of student.

FOUNDATION YOGA---Growth from the ground up, emphasizing the basics of breath awareness, proper alignment, engagement and modifications. The result should be increased strength, stability, and the motivation to reach beyond one's comfort zone into deeper practice.

RESTORATIVE YOGA---60 minutes of pure quieting, slowing down, breathing, visualization and affirmation all the while relaxing into a yoga opening or closing pose one at a time. We practice a total of 4-6 poses in this one hour session. This is to quiet your brain and slow down your heart rate/pressure, to release anxiety, to rest and replenish from life's conundrums. You'll leave calm and glowing.

MEDITATION/RESTORATIVE---a blend of 30/30(ish) minutes of each. Meditation to focus one's attention on the breath and body using mantra (which means using a word or phrase to focus one's attention. The repetition is what makes a persons mind more able to be centered, which makes the body more centered as well) or just being centered and quiet to soft music. Then into a restorative pose or two to relax (see description 'restorative yoga' above). AAahhh.

Breath Awareness and breathing exercises are taught in all of these classes to use during the practice.

We are a traditional yoga studio implementing the teachers of the past, their lessons, philosophy and traditions. The poses are pronounced in both English and Sanskrit. We are honorable and respectful in our classes of ourselves and of others before, during and after class.

We use 3 blankets, 2 blocks, a strap and a yoga mat. If you have your own equipment you are encouraged to bring it. We have equipment to borrow and extra bolsters and cushions and footstools for relaxation/restoratives and for those students who may have an injury or are just beginning and feel a little 'tight'. These 'props' are vital instruments in the practice of yoga so as to practice in alignment for your body with safety in mind and still make you feel comfortable and safe. We even use the wall sometimes.

And our studio's size allows for just the right amount of people for it to feel like a class yet more intimate, allowing the teacher to guide you personally for adjustments and alignment for your body type.

We ask that you take off all of your jewelry including your watch and turn off all cell phones and please do not wear any kind of perfume or fragrance, thank you.
